My curling iron died mid-client yesterday... total nightmare

I was halfway through a full head of curls for a wedding party yesterday and my trusty 1-inch iron just stopped heating. Had to scramble to borrow one from the salon owner while my client sat there with half-done hair... so embarrassing. The worst part was I couldn't even finish the style the same way and she could tell the curls looked different. Anyone else have a tool fail at the worst possible time and have to figure out a backup plan?

Oh man, "total nightmare" is exactly right. I had my flat iron literally snap in half while I was doing a blowout once, like the plate just cracked down the middle and sparks flew everywhere. My client was so sweet about it but I was mortified, and I had to finish with this old clunky iron from the back room that left crease marks in her hair. I spent the rest of the day apologizing and offering her a free deep conditioning treatment. It's the worst feeling when you're in the zone and your gear betrays you like that.

@rosebennett at least your iron didn't explode like mine did, I'm still finding little pieces of ceramic in my bathroom.
