An old timer in Philly called my tagline technique 'a good way to get someone killed'
He said I was focusing too much on the load and not enough on the swing path, and after a near miss last Tuesday, I've started scanning the whole arc first. Anyone else have a pre-lift checklist they swear by?

What if that old timer is just stuck in his ways? Sometimes focusing too much on the arc can make you miss a shifting load that's the real problem. My checklist is simple, look at the load first because if that's wrong nothing else matters. A near miss sounds more like bad luck than bad technique to me.

All depends on what you're moving in the first place though.

Hey, gotta disagree on the bad luck thing! A near miss is a huge warning sign, it means your technique has a hole in it. The old timer's right, the swing path is what gets you hurt if you ignore it.
