Paid $85 for a fancy anti-vibration mat and it actually made things worse
Honestly, I was tired of my crane cab rattling like crazy whenever I hoisted near max load. So I dropped $85 on this heavy rubber mat off Amazon to dampen the vibration. Tbh, it killed all feedback through the floor plates and I ended up misjudging a pickup by about two inches. Had to rip it out after three days and go back to the bare steel floor where I can feel what the machine's doing. Anyone else ditch those mats for better control?

Is a two inch miss really that big a deal in practice though?

Oh absolutely it matters in practice. I've had plenty of jobs where getting close wasn't good enough and that two inches meant the whole thing had to be redone. You really want to nail it the first time to save headaches later.
