Pro tip: Use a laser level for boom alignment instead of eyeballing it like I did for years

I used to just line up the boom by sight when setting up on a job site in Columbus last spring. It worked okay for smaller lifts, but I kept having to tweak things after the first pick. Then another operator named Dave showed me his laser level trick. He clips a cheap laser to the boom tip and lines it up with a mark on the base. Now I get the boom dead straight in under two minutes, no second guesses. It saved me about 30 minutes of rework on a tight site last month. Has anyone else found a simple tool that changed how you set up?

@kelly.parker you're totally right, that laser trick is one of those things you kick yourself for not trying sooner. I had the same setup issues until my partner showed me a similar method with a cheap cross line laser wedged at the boom tip. Now I draw a marker line on the base plate and align it in about 90 seconds flat. It cut my rework time by at least 20 minutes on the last tight alley job I did.

Ngl that laser trick saves more time than any other setup hack I've tried.
