I waited on hold for 47 minutes to dispute a $120 charge, only to be told their system was down and to call back tomorrow.

Has anyone else had a major company just shrug and tell you to try again later when you finally get through after an insane wait?

That's just how it goes now (which is pretty sad). It feels like companies have given up on fixing problems in real time. You can see it everywhere, from broken self-checkout machines to websites that just crash during sales. The whole system is built to make you give up.

The "system built to make you give up" thing is so real. I spent 20 minutes yelling at a parking meter yesterday and it totally won. We're all just slowly losing our minds over small tech.
