My dumb mistake with refund policies for a whole year

Honestly, I spent like 12 months fighting with a store about a return I couldn't do because I lost the receipt. Then last week, a cashier at Target straight up told me I could pull up the transaction in their app using my debit card number from my bank statement. I had no idea stores could do that for stuff bought under $50. It works for Walmart too if you use their website and search your order history with the card info. Now I never stress about losing a paper receipt anymore. Has anyone else found other stores that let you do the same thing?

My cousin actually works at Best Buy and told me the same thing last week. I always thought those store cards were just a gimmick but seeing the discounts add up changed my mind completely. Might actually look into getting one now.
