Warning: My internet company charged me for a modem I returned 8 months ago

I switched ISPs back in January and mailed back their modem with a tracking number. They said it was received. Then in March I got a $150 charge on my credit card for "unreturned equipment." I called and they said to send proof. I sent the tracking receipt. They said it wasn't in their system. This went back and forth for 8 months until I filed a complaint with the BBB. They finally dropped the charge last week. Has anyone else had a company just ignore proof of return like that?

Did you ever think these companies just lose stuff and then stick you with the bill? I used to think they were pretty honest about returns until a similar thing happened to me with a router I mailed back. Now I keep photo proof and tracking numbers saved for months just in case.

Wait, you actually had a router lost in the mail and THEY still blamed you, @angelafisher? That's wild. I'd be furious if I had to eat the cost of something I sent back with proof.
