Frustrated with my slow internet, I found the problem in my router settings.

Default router passwords are public knowledge, @riley860. If someone gets on your network, they can slow it down by using all your bandwidth. Change it to a strong password and you might see a speed boost, lol.

My neighbor's kid got on their home wifi with the default password and streamed movies all day, dropping their speed to a crawl. The_ivan is totally right, it's like leaving your front door unlocked in a busy neighborhood. I see this all the time, people buy a new router and never change a single setting. It's not just about speed, it's a huge security hole letting anyone use your connection. Taking five minutes to set a strong password is the easiest fix for a lot of weird internet problems.
