Used to think password managers were a scam, now I get it

I always thought password managers were just a way for companies to track your data for profit. Then I had my email account hacked in October after using the same password for 10 years. A friend showed me Bitwarden, and after 3 months I haven't had a single issue. Has anyone else been burned by reusing passwords before switching?

Used to think they were just a way to track data for profit" - what finally made you realize the security tradeoff was worth it?

Wait @ruby_foster93, did you ever catch yourself leaving a smart lock key in the front door for three days? Because that was me. I finally realized the tradeoff was worth it when I forgot my phone at a gas station and the finder used the camera to snap a selfie while trying to unlock it. Got the police call, got the phone back, and figured having some data collected beats leaving my whole digital life exposed. Now I just assume someone's tracking my midnight snack searches.
