Had a neighbor show me how to properly season a cast iron skillet last week

She came over after seeing me struggle with a sticky pan on my porch and spent 20 minutes walking me through the oil layers. I finally got that nonstick finish after 3 tries using her method. Anyone else pick up a random skill from a neighbor?

My neighbor taught me how to change a car tire once! I was stranded in the driveway with a flat and he just came out with his tools and walked me through the whole thing. Now I can do it myself in under 10 minutes.

Saw a Reddit thread the other day where someone said knowing how to change a tire is basically a life skill everyone should have, and I totally agree with that and @bettyh84. Good on your neighbor for helping you out.
