I dropped $150 on a high end mop and it just broke after 3 months

I bought a fancy spin mop system from a home store in Austin because I was sick of wringing out wet rags. It was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. Today the handle snapped clean off while I was scrubbing a spill in the kitchen, not even a hard stain. For a hundred and fifty bucks I expected it to last more than a season. Now I'm back to using a basic bucket and rag I got for $8 at the dollar store. Anyone else had a cleaning gadget that totally let you down?

best thing since sliced bread" - more like the worst thing since that bread got moldy, huh? I feel your pain, man. I once bought one of those "miracle" scrub brushes with the spinning handle, you know the ones. Snapped first time I tried to scrub a little grout in the shower. I swear my hands are just cursed for cleaning gadgets (or maybe I just have terrible luck with anything that has moving parts). At least the $8 bucket and rag combo is honest, simple, and won't break your heart (or your wallet) when it inevitably gives up.

The bucket and rag combo is legit the most reliable tool in my house right now. I got this fancy steam mop last year that promised to clean everything and it just left weird streaks on my floors. Meanwhile my grandmas old plastic bucket from the 80s still works perfectly. Its like these companies know we'll buy anything that spins or vibrates or has a motor attached to it. The simpler the tool the less there is to break. My dad always said if it has more than three parts its gonna fail eventually and hes been proved right about every cleaning gadget Ive ever owned.
