That time my crew forgot to install a drip edge on a $14,000 roof in Austin last July

The homeowner called me 8 months later about water stains on her ceiling, and I had to eat the cost of pulling up 3 squares of shingles and fixing it myself on a Saturday because my foreman skipped that step and I didn't double check his work, has anyone else had to pay for a mistake that wasn't even yours to make?

You've been through it too, @ward.fiona? Man, that deck story hurts just reading it. It's brutal when you're the one footing the bill for someone else's oversight, especially when you trusted your crew to do it right. I feel for you on that, it's a sick feeling having to shell out your own money for a fix you never caused. How do you even go back and check every single thing without driving yourself crazy?

My buddy Mike had to redo an entire backyard deck because his guys used regular nails instead of coated screws.
