Was skeptical about silicone baking mats until I ruined a cookie sheet last Tuesday
I always thought those silicone mats were just another gadget taking up drawer space. Then I forgot a sheet pan of bacon in the oven at 425 and the smoke alarm went off. Scraped carbonized grease for 20 minutes and finally understood why my sister bought three of them. Anyone else have a kitchen tool they brushed off until one specific mess changed their mind?

Man I felt that deep in my soul. Bacon grease is basically industrial grade adhesive once it cools. Those mats are the real MVP of the kitchen, not just some instagram gimmick lol

Oh man, tell me about it. I've lost more than a few good dish towels to the curse of solidified bacon grease. They're basically expensive shop rags now. I actually bought one of those silicone mats after I spent a solid twenty minutes scraping a cookie sheet with a plastic spatula like I was chiseling a statue. Now I just look like a guy who's really into clean bacon drippings, which is fine by me.
