Hit 4 hours of battery on my old ThinkPad last week

I was just hoping it would last through a coffee shop visit, but it actually ran a full movie for the kids and still had juice left. Has anyone else gotten a surprise like this from an older machine?

My 2012 MacBook got 6 hours after a new battery, so you got lucky with that old ThinkPad.

and honestly the battery life thing with old ThinkPads is weird because it depends more on the BIOS version than the actual hardware sometimes. I put a new battery in a T420 and got 8 hours at first, then a BIOS update came out and it dropped to 4 because they changed the power limits without telling anyone. your mileage may vary with every single system, even same model same year different factory runs have different power draw. little things like the screen brightness range or if the wifi card is on a whitelist can change battery life by hours.
