Pro tip: I was sitting in my car in the school parking lot after a parent yelled at me over a missing permission slip, and I finally started writing down every single 'task' I do that isn't in my job description.

You ever notice how this has spread to everything? Like now you pump your own gas and check out your own groceries, doing the cashier's job. You book your own travel instead of using an agent. Companies make you do their work for them but the price never goes down, they just keep the profit. It's the same thing at work, they just keep adding more to your plate.

Been burned by this way too many times. Best thing I ever did was start tracking everything I do outside my actual job description and bringing it to my boss with a straight face asking which tasks they want me to drop so I can pick up the new ones. Usually shuts them up real quick when they realize you can't just pile on more work without something falling off. Also started holding boundaries on self-checkout nonsense tbh, if the machine messes up I just walk away and find a real cashier. Companies will keep pushing until you push back, no one else is gonna do it for you.
