Rant: Walked past the old Blockbuster in my hometown and it hit different
It's a cell phone repair place now, and they had a 'Now Hiring' sign taped to the glass. I worked there for three summers in high school, just checking tapes back in. Felt weird seeing kids in there now, probably getting paid the same $8.50 an hour to fix cracked screens instead of rewinding VHS tapes. What's the modern equivalent of a dead-end job like that, just with a different uniform?

Damn, that's a gut punch. I can totally picture it, the same vibe but with a whole different kind of clutter. Feels like the modern version is maybe one of those pop-up phone case kiosks in the mall, just another temporary gig for the same low pay.

Ugh, you just described my cousin's last three jobs. He went from selling those phone cases to one of those weird mall knife sharpeners, then to a rug kiosk. Same sad energy every time.
