Thinking about buying a used skid steer for my landscaping jobs
I found a 2012 model for $15,000 that seems to run okay, but it would be a huge chunk of my savings. The pro is I could take on bigger projects, but the con is the repair costs if it breaks down. Has anyone here bought used equipment and had it work out well?

That price seems a bit high for a 2012 model unless it has really low hours and comes with attachments. Used gear can be a great move, but you gotta factor in an immediate service, new fluids, and maybe tires. A lot of guys get burned by just looking at the sale price and not the cost to make it job-ready. Have a mechanic check it over before you even think about handing over cash.

Have a mechanic check it over" is a bit much for a basic tractor. It's a 2012, not a space shuttle. If it starts, runs, and the hydraulics work, you're probably fine. Change the oil yourself for a couple hundred bucks. People act like every used machine is a hidden money pit waiting to happen.

Masonpark's right, that's how you end up paying more than a new one. Seen it happen a bunch.
