Had a weird run-in with a 'business consultant' at the coffee shop near the Ren Cen last week.
This guy, who said his name was Gary, overheard me talking to a friend about our small print shop's slow month. He slid over, handed me a card for 'Synergy Dynamics LLC', and said he could double our revenue in 90 days for a flat fee of $5,000. When I asked for a single client reference, he just winked and said 'the reference is the future, my friend' before walking out. Has anyone else had a strange pitch from a totally un-vetted 'expert' around here?

Gary from Synergy Dynamics sounds like he's selling magic beans instead of business advice. The wink and the line about the future being the reference is a classic move from someone who has nothing real to show you. I've seen these types before, they always have a slick name and a promise that's way too good to be true. Five grand is a lot of money for a handshake and a vague idea. Did your gut feeling tell you to run right away?

Read an article last year about these "vision consultants" who use the same script. They always talk about synergy and leverage without giving real numbers. The writer said they're basically selling confidence, not a plan. It's a whole industry built on fancy words and empty promises.

Ever ask them to show you a real plan from a past client? That usually shuts it down fast.
