Choosing between a simple portfolio site and a big social media push for my art
I had to pick between making a basic portfolio site with Carrd or trying to grow on Instagram for my digital art. I went with the simple site because I got tired of the algorithm deciding who sees my work. It cost me $19 for the year and I set it up in an afternoon. Now I have a clean place to send clients that shows my best pieces without any noise. Has anyone else moved away from social media for showing their art and how did it work out?

That QR code by the creamer is genius. I never would have thought to try something so simple offline. It makes way more sense than fighting an algorithm for attention.

Tbh "weird little monster drawing by the creamer" is the best business model I've heard all year. Honestly just picturing some guy getting his coffee and being like "this latte needs a goblin" and scanning your code.

Honestly, I just started printing my stuff and leaving it in local coffee shops with a QR code to my site. Got my first commission from a guy who saw a weird little monster drawing taped next to the creamer. Feels more real than shouting into the void online.
