I was sure I needed a coworking space in Medellin, but my balcony proved me wrong

For the first two weeks here, I paid $120 a month for a spot at a popular spot in El Poblado. The wifi was fast, but it was loud and I felt stuck inside. Last Monday, I just worked from my apartment's balcony with a $15 mobile hotspot. My focus was better, I saved the cash, and I got to actually see the city. Has anyone else ditched the formal office for a simpler spot that worked better?

Sounds great until the rainy season hits or your neighbor starts a construction project. That mobile hotspot will choke on video calls when you really need it, and good luck finding a power outlet out there. Paying for a real workspace buys you reliability and a quiet place to actually get work done, not just feel like you're on vacation.

Mobile hotspots handle video calls just fine now.
