Just realized those 'co-living' spaces in Lisbon are actually worth the hype

I booked a month at one near the LX Factory for 850 euros, fully expecting it to be overpriced and full of influencers. After a week, the fast wifi, quiet coworking room, and instant friend group for exploring totally changed my mind. Has anyone found a similar spot that felt like a real community, not just a fancy hostel?

The shared kitchen at my place in Porto last year had a real schedule for family dinners. We ended up with a WhatsApp group that's still active, planning reunions. It wasn't just polite hellos, people actually shared groceries and helped when someone was sick. That feels like more than just a nice building.

Had the same thing happen at a spot in Barcelona. Two weeks in and we were doing group hikes and sharing meal prep like it was a real apartment, not just strangers passing through.

My third day at a place in Lisbon, I walked into the kitchen and found a note taped to the coffee maker from someone I'd never met, offering me their leftover pastel de nata from breakfast (which, honestly, is the fastest way to my heart). That kind of thing just doesn't happen at a hotel or even a regular Airbnb - it requires people actually treating the space like a home instead of a pit stop. So yeah, I get the skepticism about whether it's "real community," but when someone is willing to share their secret bakery find with a stranger, that feels pretty genuine to me (even if I did eat three of them before dinner).

But is it a real community though?
