Rant: Coworking spaces aren't built for people who actually need to take calls

Been bouncing around Southeast Asia for about 6 months now, mostly working from coworking spots in Chiang Mai and Bali. Every single one has this huge open floor plan with those long tables and zero phone booths. Yesterday I had a client call and had to sit in a bathroom stall just to hear myself think. Why do these places design for looks instead of function? Is it just me or do other nomads struggle finding spots where you can actually take a Zoom call without echo?

WAIT you had to sit in a BATHROOM STALL for a client call?? That's insane. I stayed at a spot in Ubud last month called Hubud and they had exactly TWO phone booths for like 80 people. I counted one day. I ended up taking a call from the rooftop area and there were chickens crowing in the background the whole time. My client thought I was on a farm. The worst part is these places charge like $200 a month for a "hot desk" but they don't even have basic soundproofing. It's like they expect us to just text all day.

$200 and chickens in the background, that's wild. The bathroom stall move is next level desperation though. At least the chickens are honest background noise, a toilet flush would be way worse. These coworking spots really just sell the vibe and forget people actually need to work there.
