Serious question, are rental scams exploding where you are too?
I've been bouncing around Southeast Asia and the number of fake apartment ads has shot up! Just this week, a buddy in Hanoi sent me a listing that looked perfect, but the landlord asked for a wire transfer before any viewing. It's getting risky to secure a place without local help. Always double-check with reviews or ask other nomads in the area. I'm worried folks will lose a lot of money if they're not careful. Let's share tips to stay safe out there!

Exploding seems like a strong word for something that's always been risky. People have been getting scammed on rentals forever, especially abroad. Use your head and you'll likely avoid most problems.

Hold up... getting scammed "forever" doesn't make it okay now. Aaron_Foster20 is right about it being a bigger trust problem, because these aren't just iffy deals anymore. I've seen fake listings using real keys from copied photos... that's next-level lying, not just normal risk.

This trend of rental scams reflects a larger problem with trust in online deals today.
