Vent: Tried that coworking space in Medellin everyone raves about and it was a total disaster for my focus
I booked a monthly pass at that famous place in El Poblado last month, thinking it'd be perfect for getting work done. But the internet kept cutting out every 45 minutes, and I lost three hours of progress on a client project because of it. Then there was this guy on a Zoom call right next to me barking orders at his team all afternoon. I learned you really gotta test the wifi speed yourself and ask about noise policies before committing to a spot like that. Has anyone else had a hyped-up coworking space completely ruin their workflow?

Man I had the exact same thing happen at a spot in Austin last year called The Hive. Paid 300 bucks for a month and the wifi died every afternoon around 2pm when everyone was on calls. What worked for me was switching to a smaller place called Workshop that had this printed sheet at the front desk showing their actual speed tests from the last week. I also started going in at 7am when it was dead quiet and leaving by noon before the chaos hit. Another thing I did was buy a cheap mobile hotspot as backup so if their internet went down I could still get stuff done without panicking. Your mileage may vary but those two changes saved my workflow big time.

That $300 a month place sounds rough but honestly my wifi at home cuts out at random times too and I just reload the page and move on with my day. If a coworking space has bad internet for 15 minutes I don't think that's worth buying a whole separate hotspot and rearranging your entire sleep schedule around. Maybe I'm just lucky but most of these problems can be solved by asking the front desk to reset the router or just using your phone as a hotspot for a bit.
