Used to hang pictures by eyeballing it, now I use a laser level after a disaster in my living room

I used to just hammer a nail wherever I thought looked straight. Last year I tried to hang a big 4-foot mirror in my Denver apartment and ended up with a row of 6 holes because it kept tilting left. My buddy laughed and handed me his $20 laser level from Harbor Freight. First time using it I got the mirror perfectly level in under 2 minutes. Anyone else have a tool they resisted forever but now swear by?

Those "good enough" generations also had crooked pictures. @xena886 I'll take my laser level and not having 6 holes in the wall, thanks.

Eyeballing it was good enough for generations before us.
