Warning: My concrete pour in Dallas last Tuesday went wrong because of a mix-up on the water ratio.

The crew on site added the water to the truck before checking the spec sheet, which called for a 0.45 water-to-cement ratio for a driveway. They went closer to 0.55, and by the time I caught it, the first section was already down. Now I'm looking at a slab that's gonna be weaker and might crack way sooner... My partner says it's fine and we should just seal it well and hope, but I think we need to cut it out and re-pour that section, even though it'll cost another $1,200. Has anyone had to make this call before? What did you do?

Man, that's a rough spot to be in. Charlie_kelly is right, you don't want that weak spot living in your head rent-free for years.

Cut it out. That extra water is gonna haunt you every time you park a car on it. Why pay for a new driveway twice?
