My bathroom tile grout turned into a giant gray mess

I had to pick between a premixed grout or the powder you mix yourself for my small bathroom floor. I went with the premixed stuff thinking it would be easier, but it dried way too fast and left a super uneven, blotchy finish. I spent three hours last night trying to scrub it off with a sponge and vinegar before it set completely. Has anyone fixed a grout job that looks this bad without starting over from scratch?

Ugh, did you get the stuff in the bucket? I was totally team premixed until I had the same disaster on my kitchen backsplash. That mess made me switch to powder forever, you can actually work with it.

Remember that time you mixed a whole bag for a tiny repair and it went hard in the bucket overnight? That's the powder downside. I keep a small tub of premixed for those quick fixes because it stays workable for months. For the big jobs, you're totally right, powder is the way to go. What are you working on now?
