My homemade compost bin collapsed and buried my neighbor's flower bed

Built it last week with some old pallets and a few lag bolts, thought it would hold up fine. Woke up this morning to a pile of wet leaves and coffee grounds covering half of Mrs. Johnson's tulips across the fence. Spent two hours cleaning it up and now I'm back to square one with a pile of wood and a very annoyed neighbor. Anyone have a better plan for a simple bin that won't fall apart in the rain?

Oh man, that's the universe telling you your compost was too ambitious! My first bin was just cinder blocks and it looked like a toddler's building project after a storm. All my kitchen scraps ended up in the driveway. Have you looked at those simple wire cage designs? Just a cylinder of fencing, seems way more stable than pallets in the wet.

But doesn't a wire cage dry out way too fast in the sun?

Yeah wire cages are solid. Didn't I read somewhere that the airflow is actually better with that setup too? Makes sense with all the holes.
