Choosing between a built-in bookcase or floating shelves for our old living room
I mean, we had this whole wall in our 1920s house that needed something, and I went back and forth for weeks about doing a full built-in with plywood or just putting up some simple pine floating shelves. We picked the built-in, and it took two weekends and about $400 in materials, but now it looks like it's always been there. Anyone else ever get stuck on a big choice like that and wonder if you picked right?

Honestly, you made the right call going with the built-in. Tbh, that classic look just fits an old house way better. We did floating shelves in our last place and they always felt a bit temporary, like they could just fall off the wall. The built-in stuff takes more work for sure, but it just feels solid and done. Ngl, I still wish we had just gone for it and built something permanent like you did.

Oh man, that reminds me of our kitchen tile. Spent a month deciding between subway or hexagon, went with subway, and now I just stare at it wondering about the other choice.
