Pro tip: A $12 can of spray foam fixed my drafty basement door in a weekend
I had a cold spot near my basement door for years, and last month I finally bought a can of Great Stuff gap filler after seeing it at the hardware store. I sprayed it into the gaps around the door frame, let it cure for a day, and now that whole corner is noticeably warmer. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that made a big difference like this?

Feel your pain with that basement door draft. Mine was so bad it made the whole laundry area freezing. Grabbed some cheap weather stripping tape from the dollar store as a test, and it actually worked way better than I expected. Now I don't need a sweater just to switch the laundry over.

That reminds me of my old apartment where the windows leaked air so bad. I used that same tape trick on the worst one and it cut down on the whistling noise at least. Still had to wear socks all winter though.

Hated to admit it but @rowan593 had a point about the tape trick. I was the same way with my old place, thought it looked janky and wouldn't do much. Then my landlord took forever to fix a cracked window pane so out of spite I taped it up with the heavy duty stuff. Actually stopped the draft so well I left it there for like two months after they fixed it, just in case. Kinda changed my whole view on those quick fixes.
