Oh man, that reminds me of the time I tried to assemble one of those fancy standing desks. The instructions were just pictures, no words, and I was so sure I had it right. Ended up with the whole thing upside down, wheels in the air like a dead bug. Had to take every single piece apart and start over from scratch. Felt like a total fool, but I got there in the end (after three hours and a lot of muttered bad words). Sometimes you just have to laugh at how badly a simple plan can go off the rails.
