Warning: I wasted 5 years painting trim wrong

Last month I was touching up my baseboards and realized why they always looked terrible. My neighbor who does woodworking for a living walked by and saw me using a cheap foam brush. He said those brushes push air bubbles into the paint and leave a rough finish. I had been using them since I bought my first house in 2019. Switched to a good angled brush and the difference was night and day. Has anyone else discovered something simple they were doing wrong for years?

My buddy used dish soap on his wood floors for two years before someone told him.

Bet it's not just the brush itself but the technique too. Most people load the brush wrong - you gotta dip it halfway, not all the way into the paint. That extra paint just drips and makes a mess you gotta fix later.
