Built a custom shelf unit for my garage and realized I screwed up the vertical spacing
I spent last weekend putting together a floor-to-ceiling shelf unit in my garage using 2x4s and plywood. Got all excited and marked the horizontal lines by eye instead of measuring each one. Ended up with one shelf that's 14 inches tall and another that's only 8 inches, which means my big bins don't fit on half of them. Now I have to pull it apart and redo the brackets this weekend. Has anyone else messed up shelf spacing and found a good trick for getting it right the first time?

Did you use a spacer board to check the gaps before you drilled?

Hold up, you don't need a spacer board for gaps. Just grab a couple of the actual tiles you're gonna use and lay them out with the spacers between. That way you see the real gap before you drill anything. I messed up my first backsplash trying to measure it all out on paper first, not worth it.
