Everyone says to start with 3D modeling software, but I still use 2D for initial layouts.

Tried a full 3D model for a simple warehouse addition in Toledo. Spent 4 hours on it. My old 2D floor plan method would have taken 45 minutes. When do you all decide to switch from 2D to 3D?

Four hours for a warehouse in Toledo is wild. That extra time has to pay off somewhere down the line, or it's just a fancy waste. I only go 3D when the client absolutely needs to walk through the space.

You call it a fancy waste, but that extra time pays off in the proposal stage every single time. I send a basic 3D view with the initial quote and it immediately sets me apart from the guys just sending flat drawings. For a warehouse, showing how the light falls from those high bays at 3 PM sells the design. Clients see it and get it, no walking needed. That visual closes deals faster.
