Just read that the average drafter spends 30% of their time fixing other people's bad sketches

I was going through some old trade mags at the dentist and saw a short piece from a survey done by a drafting software company. It said drafters report spending nearly a third of their work week just cleaning up and fixing unclear sketches from engineers or field guys. That's like 12 hours a week for a normal schedule. I always knew it was a chunk of time, but seeing that number made it real. It got me thinking about my own week, and yeah, I probably hit that mark, especially when we get rushed site drawings. It's not just redrawing lines, it's chasing down missing info and guessing at unclear notes. How do you guys handle this? Do you have a set way to send sketches back for more detail before you even start?

What if that's just part of the job, not wasted time?

That's a rough way to look at it... It's not just part of the job, it's a huge drain when the info could be clear from the start.
