Stuck between a cutterhead and a hard place on a small creek job in Ohio

Had to choose between a basket cutterhead for fine stuff or a blade head for roots and clay. I went with the blade head and it chewed through the roots like butter but left a rougher bottom. Anyone else run into this choice on narrow waterways?

Maybe the rough bottom helps stop erosion later on...
