Unpopular opinion: My neighbor said 'fixing old stuff is just delaying the inevitable'
We were talking over the fence and he said his new $20 toaster is cheaper than the hour I'd spend fixing his old one. It made me think... is our work about saving money or preserving things? What's your main reason for repairing instead of replacing?

Used to think exactly like your neighbor, honestly. My old blender died and I almost tossed it. Then I found a YouTube video, bought a $5 part, and got another three years out of it. That feeling of fixing it, of not adding to a landfill over some cheap plastic gears, just hit different. Now I see it as a small win against a throwaway world, even if the math doesn't always add up.

It's that shift from seeing stuff as disposable to seeing it as fixable. I notice it now with my kids trying to mend their own toys.
