Appreciation post: A stuck door in a Philly high-rise taught me a new trick

I was on a call at the Liberty Place tower last week for a door not closing right. The usual checks did nothing. The building super mentioned they'd just had the floors polished, and it clicked. I checked the sill and found a tiny, hard glob of dried floor wax in the guide. Cleared it in two minutes. Now I always ask about recent cleaning or maintenance first. Anyone else run into weird stuff like wax or gum causing issues?

A wad of gum in the panic bar is a special kind of gross. Someone really thought, "This emergency exit needs a sticky surprise." It's the perfect mix of lazy and weird. I bet they patted themselves on the back for not just sticking it under a table like a normal person.
