I chose the cheaper hosting plan for my first website and it crashed in 2 days.

It was between a $5 shared host and a $15 managed one, and I went cheap to save money. The traffic from a single Reddit post took the site down for 6 hours and I lost all my early visitors. Has anyone else had a hosting choice totally backfire on them?

Ugh, that's the worst feeling. Happened to me once and it's a brutal lesson. That cheap plan was a trap for sure, they never tell you about the hard traffic limits. Saving ten bucks cost you your whole launch moment, which is way more important. Never making that mistake again.

You mentioned the traffic from a single Reddit post took it down. Honestly, that's more about the plan's limits than shared hosting itself. A lot of those cheap plans have really low visitor caps before they throttle you. The $15 managed one probably just has higher limits, not necessarily stronger servers.
