Saw a barn in Kentucky using these weird plastic shoes on their draft horses

I was down near Lexington last month and a guy had his Belgians in these molded plastic things instead of metal. He swore they were lighter and lasted longer, but I'm not sold on the grip. Anyone tried these or think they're just a fad?

Saw a mule once with duct tape shoes, no joke.

Duct tape shoes? That sounds pretty temporary. Doubt the mule was doing any serious hiking in those.

Duct tape shoes on a mule is the perfect example. It feels like we're all just doing weird, temporary fixes on everything now and calling it good enough.
