I finally stopped hoarding my 'good' fabric and the results are crazy

I used to save all my special, expensive fabric for the 'perfect' project, so it just sat in boxes for years. Last week I cut into a silk brocade I bought three years ago to make a silly, oversized bowling shirt. Now I'm wearing it everywhere and getting tons of ideas for more fun, casual pieces from my fancy stash. It turns out actually using the nice stuff is way better than just looking at it.

Okay but @bell.alice saying it's "just cloth" is missing the point. It's about the feeling. That silk brocade shirt isn't just a shirt now, it's a reminder to enjoy things. My grandma had "good" china that only came out twice before she died. Now I use my fancy mugs for coffee every morning because life's short. Using the special stuff changes your whole mood.

Lol wait is fabric really that deep though. It's just cloth at the end of the day, even if it's fancy. Like I get it, but you could have made pajamas from that silk years ago and been comfy. Good you used it, but the big lesson is just... use your stuff.

Wow, I totally get it. I had some silk too, saved for a dress that never happened. Turned it into pillowcases and now my bed feels fancy every night. Isn't it funny how using the 'good stuff' daily actually makes life better?
