Saw this amazing fabric market in Bangkok last month

I was in the Chatuchak market and found a stall selling these incredible hand-woven silks with metallic threads. The vendor said each piece takes about 2 weeks to make. The colors were so vibrant, like nothing I can get at my usual fabric store back home. It got me thinking about designing a small evening collection around that kind of textured, artisanal material. Has anyone else worked with similar specialty fabrics and have tips on sourcing them online?

Man I feel you on that, those markets are total treasure hunts. @garcia.casey is right, that material is made for a capsule collection. Sourcing that quality online is a real pain though, you mostly find mass produced stuff that just looks similar. I ended up having to connect directly with a few sellers I met on a trip and just message them on social media to order. The shipping costs can be brutal but it's the only way I've found to get the real thing.

Those silks sound perfect for a small capsule collection.

Oh the classic "just message them on social" method. Because nothing says reliable supply chain like sliding into DMs and hoping they remember you. My closet is basically held together by a delicate web of Instagram stories and prayers that "handmade, friend" actually means what it says.
