Hot take: Remember when fixing a squeaky door was just a matter of oil?
I was trying to fix my front door that's been squeaking for weeks. Back in the day, a drop of oil from the garage would do it, but now with modern hinges and materials, I'm not sure what to use. What's the best non-damaging lubricant for composite door frames these days?

Exactly, everything IS more complicated now. For composite frames you want a dry silicone spray, it won't stain or attract dust like oil. It's the modern fix for modern materials.

My carbon fiber bike frame started creaking last year. I tried a bit of chain oil on the joints and it attracted so much grime. A mechanic at my local shop handed me a can of dry silicone spray. Two light sprays on the seat tube and the noise was gone completely. Now I keep a can in my garage for my kid's composite baseball bat too. It just makes sense for anything that isn't old school steel.

Wait, isn't silicone spray a temporary fix for a creak? It seems like it just masks the sound instead of finding the real source, like a loose bolt or worn part.
