The coffee shop coworking trap that keeps getting me

I keep seeing freelancers rave about getting work done in busy coffee shops with just noise canceling headphones. Tried it again yesterday at Brew House on 3rd and spent 45 minutes dodging a guy who wanted to chat about his screenplay. The wifi dropped twice and I had to buy a $5 latte every 90 minutes just to keep my seat. Anyone else find that a quiet library branch or a spare room at home actually works way better for focused work?

I finally gave up on coffee shops after that third latte at Brew House last month. My home office corner with a $20 desk lamp and some white noise on youtube works way better. The wifi actually stays up and I can wear sweatpants without anyone judging me. Plus I don't have to pretend to be interested in some guy's screenplay about a time traveling dog. Libraries are solid too but the hours can be rough if you work late. Just keep it simple and save the $15 a day.

Man that time traveling dog screenplay bit got me good, I've had to dodge so many awkward conversations about someone's "passion project" while my coffee gets cold. Totally with you on the home setup though, once you get the right lighting and noise situation going it's game over for coffee shop productivity.
