Hot take: That 'harmless' background noise in Silent Hill is actually a looped scream

I was replaying Silent Hill 2 the other night and had the volume cranked up. You know that ambient drone sound in the foggy streets? I swear I heard a faint pattern in it. So I isolated the audio file and looped it, and yeah, it's a heavily distorted human scream stretched out over like 30 seconds. Never noticed it in all my playthroughs because I just wrote it off as creepy wind. Has anyone else pulled apart game audio and found hidden stuff like that?

yeah that's the kind of thing that makes you wonder what else is buried in those sound files. like the radio static in silent hill 3, i heard someone say it has a faint heartbeat layered under the noise if you crank the bass up. i checked it myself with some audio software and yeah, there's a pulse in there. also the wind sounds in the prison section? that's not wind, it's distorted breathing. real slow and ragged. the sound designers on those old games were nasty with that stuff.

Wait, is the heartbeat thing from Silent Hill 3 actually confirmed? I tried pulling that apart myself and just got a low hum from the ambient track bleeding through.
