My reply all mistake at work was a wake-up call

I was annoyed with a team decision and wrote a sharp email. Instead of sending it to just one coworker, I accidentally hit reply all. The entire department saw it, causing major embarrassment and conflict. Now I save angry messages as drafts and come back to them later, which has saved me from repeating that error.

Oh man, I've totally been there lol. That sinking feeling when you realize you hit reply all is the worst. What saved me is always putting the angry person's email in the BCC field so even if I mess up, it only goes to them. But your draft idea is solid too, I wait at least an hour before sending anything when I'm heated. It gives you time to cool down and see if it's really worth saying. Plus, reading it out loud helps catch tone issues you might miss when you're mad.

Actually I think all that waiting and BCC stuff just lets people walk all over you. Sometimes you NEED to send that angry email right away so they know you're serious. If you cool off for an hour you'll probably chicken out and soften it, then nothing ever changes. Hitting reply all by accident is just a dumb mistake, but letting people think they can treat you badly is WAY worse. Being too careful makes you seem weak.

Yeah but sending angry emails right away can backfire so hard. I mean you might say something you can't take back and then you're the one who looks bad, not them. Cooling off for an hour isn't about chickening out, it's about making sure your message actually lands and gets results instead of just burning a bridge. Sometimes the strongest move is to wait and send something clear and firm that they can't just brush off as you being emotional.
