My bubble bowl shattered in the kiln: bad glass or wrong temperature?

I'm torn between blaming the supplier's batch and my own heat settings, what do you think?

What ramp rate did you use for the heating cycle, and how thick was the glass you were working with?

My last bubble bowl survived three firings before I even checked my kiln's calibration. Glass batches from suppliers are pretty consistent these days, so a whole bad batch is rare. I'd put money on the temp ramping up or down too fast for that specific thickness. Try a small test piece with a way slower heating cycle next time, it almost always fixes it for me.

Actually had the same thing happen with my last project. Ditching the fast cycle for a basic slow ramp fixed a huge bubble mess for me. Guess sometimes the kiln just needs to chill out.
