I believed work hikes were a waste of time before the Ridge Path mix-up

I always skipped company hiking trips, thinking they were just forced fun. Last month, my manager insisted we try the Ridge Path loop. Halfway through, a wrong turn had us totally lost. Instead of panicking, we had to work together to read the map and find our way back. That situation actually got us chatting about a project stuck for weeks. We figured out a solution while walking. Now I believe these hikes can break down walls better than any meeting. Maybe getting lost is what we needed.

That bit about "getting lost is what we needed" really hits home. I was the same, always eye-rolled at the idea. But we had a similar thing happen when our usual lunch spot was closed and we had to walk somewhere else. The change of scene and just moving side by side got people talking about a blocker in a way the conference room never did. It loosens something up. Guess sometimes you do have to get a little lost to find the right path.

Your mention of 'getting lost' made me think of a friend. Their team took a wrong turn on a hike and had their best planning session ever.
