That time my train got stuck in the middle of nowhere in Nebraska for 4 hours...

I was on the 9:15 PM out of Omaha to Denver last month when we just stopped dead near some town called Gothenburg around midnight. Conductor came on saying a freight train had derailed up ahead and we were stuck until the cleanup crew could clear the tracks. Has anyone else ever been stuck like that where they just shut off the lights and told everyone to sit tight?

Gothenburg, Nebraska at midnight sounds like the SETTING for a horror movie, not a train delay. I bet that freight train derailed just so they could give everyone a proper taste of Midwest existential dread in the dark. At least you got a free 4-hour meditation session on the loneliness of the plains, lucky you.
