I finally tried a 24 hour social media fast and ended up talking to my neighbor's cat for 20 minutes

Last Saturday I put my phone in a drawer at 8am and decided to just sit on my porch for a bit. By noon I had a full conversation with Mr. Whiskers about his opinions on the mailman, which felt more real than any Instagram comment I've ever gotten. Has anyone else had a weird run in with a local animal after ditching their screen?

My neighbor's parrot learned to mimic my ringtone so now I get fake calls from a bird who just wants to gossip about the squirrels. Talked to him for a solid 15 minutes yesterday about why he prefers sunflower seeds over peanuts.
